New Invitees Will Dominate Super Eagles Friendly Games Vs Jamaica, Ghana, Trinidad and Tobago - Éric Chelle

Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle has said he will use the next FIFA window friendly games to try new invitees and see which one will fit into his system of play leading to permanently being part of the team,

Nigeria, Ghana, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago will take on each other in Unity Cup at the 17,250-capacity Gtech Community stadium in West London in the last days of May 2025.

Chelle invited four new players for the World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and Zimbabwe, and the team picked up four points from both matches.

Seeing that Super Eagles need more players to be injected into the team ahead of FIFA World Cup qualifying games, he then plans to extend invitations to new players ahead of the competition in London.

Chelle said, “We are looking forward to taking part in the Unity Cup, as it will give us the chance to try out a few new players in different roles, helping us to strengthen our squad before the matches in September and October.”

Similarly, Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong believes the tournament will help the team to strategise for the World Cup qualifiers.

He said, “This is a great tournament for us to reunite and continue strategising for the upcoming World Cup qualifying games.”

The Super Eagles will be back in action in an international friendly against Russia on June 6 before the World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa in September.

The tournament will kick off with the first semi-final on Tuesday, 27th May, as Trinidad & Tobago tackle Jamaica in the first-ever ‘Trini-Jam’ on UK soil.

The following day, Nigeria will take on four-time African champions Ghana in the second semi-final.

All four teams will return on Saturday, May 31, for the grand finale, with the losers of the semi-final fixtures featuring in the third-place game before the final to determine the Unity Cup 2025 champions.
