Newly promoted Bundesliga club SV Elversberg are reportedly on the verge of securing the signature of German-born Nigerian youngster Francis Onyeka from Bayer Leverkusen, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The 19-year-old forward is expected to extend his contract with Bayer Leverkusen before immediately heading out on another loan spell, with Elversberg now leading the race to land the highly-rated striker.

Negotiations between all parties are believed to be in the final stages, with SV Elversberg confident of completing the deal ahead of several interested clubs.

Onyeka enjoyed an impressive loan spell with VfL Bochum last season, where he scored eight goals and showcased his immense potential. His performances attracted interest from several clubs across Europe, including Premier League side Brighton and Bundesliga outfit Freiburg.

However, newly promoted SV Elversberg are now expected to beat the competition and secure the services of the Nigeria-eligible attacker as they strengthen their squad ahead of the new Bundesliga campaign.

The move would provide Onyeka with another opportunity to gain valuable first-team experience at the highest level of German football while continuing his development under Bayer Leverkusen's watch.
