Ngá»zi Okobi-Okeoghene Bemoans Exclusion from Super Falcons World Cup Squad
By Gbenga Gboyega
Super Falcons forward who plays in the Spanish Liga F with Fútbol Club Levante Las Planas, has expressed her dissatisfaction following her exclusion from the Women's World Cup Squad list released by head coach Randy Waldrum, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Waldrum released a 23-woman list for the 2023 edition of the FIFA Women's World Cup billed for July and August this year in Australia and New Zealand but left out Ngá»zi's name among the forwards to the shock of the 29-year-old.
Ngá»zi made her debut for the country in 2010 and has since featured 27 times, scoring 4 goals in that frame, but was expecting more from the coaching crew and the Federation following the latest developments.
"The more tag notifications I get on my phone the more I keep crying. What a show of love" Ngá»zi was quoted saying according to Naija Footballers media.
"I know I'm always underrated by the people I work with, but I never knew my fans, family, and loved ones still believe in me. Thank you all" she added.
Ngá»zi's omission consequently means she misses out on the $30,000 prize money guaranteed by FIFA to all participating players in the World Cup.
This is also reflected in her disappointing statement as she felt heartbroken; "It's broken to be left out but what can I do, NOTHING."
On the flip side, Randy Waldrum who is known for his motivational speeches on social media, recently uploaded a post that could have been in response to the numerous reactions from fans, as well as Ngá»zi.
"I preach dedication and determination to anybody that I coach. Which calls for an intense lifestyle. But we still need balance." Randy posted.
