Niger Tornadoes Dispels 'Misleading Depiction' Of Bako Kontagora Stadium

The management of Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, side, Niger Tornadoes has dispelled the recent 'misleading depiction' of the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

According to a statement from the club's media department, "the recent depiction of the Bako Kontagora Stadium in Minna as unsuitable to host NPFL games by sections of the media especially on social media platform X (formally known as Twitter) is misleading and unfortunate at this time that the NPFL board is trying to promote the game.

"For avoidance of doubt, the edifice was inspected and given approval by the NPFL for Niger Tornadoes to host their home games for the 2025/26 season. In as much as we appreciate constructive criticism, it should be devoid of any malicious intent as the claims does not reflect the true situation of the playing surface.

"The Niger Tornadoes management is working tirelessly to enhance the playing surface and overall stadium environment. Although the stadium may not be FIFA standards, but the management is continually improving aspects that contribute to a positive NPFL matchday experience for visiting teams.

"This effort is part of their short-term plan, while the government has also proposed building a new stadium for Niger State. Contrary to some claims, the stadium's playing surface isn't as poor as described. We've included photos taken shortly before our MatchDay 5 fixture against Ikorodu City to demonstrate this.

"The passionate fans in Minna consistently provide a fitting matchday atmosphere for both teams, with no any reported incidents of hooliganism."
