Nigeria, European Country Collaborate On Football Development
By Niyi Busari
Nigeria and Hungary have collaborated in developing the country's football from the grassroots, BSNSports.com.ng reports
The bilateral relationship was confirmed on Tuesday at the V. Agency Football & Education Integration in Nigeria held at the Wazobia Hall of Abuja Continental Hotel which was declared opened by the NFF President, Ibrahim Gusau.
Gusau stated that Nigeria is being left behind in scouting, hence the need to partner with the Hungarian sports agency, V Sports to help in discovering talents and helping the selected ones in getting clubs in Europe.
He said, "Nigeria is being left behind in the area of scouting, making many people outside the country to come, organise competitions and pick some of the best legs and get them clubs outside the country. To bridge the gap, we at the NFF have to collaborate with Hungary to train some Nigerians in scouting courses, and also organise competitions to discover players and secure them with better future. This is in three phases and this is just the first part of it."
Also speaking, Ambassador of Hungary, Lorand Endreffy said the embassy is ready to assist the partnership in any way to make the deal a successful one. Appraising the Nigeria's exploits in football across the world, the ambassador said the most populous African nation has produced many famous players plying their trade across European countries.
"Our embassy is ready to offer supports to help both parties in football development. Football has a big role to play in Nigeria and Hungary. Nigeria Super Eagles have inspired million of people making them to be one of the best team in the world.
With this, the talents at the grassroots must be developed and guided by professionals to gain needed skills and to provide World class players." He concluded.
