Nigeria Beat South Africa, Advance To AFCON Final

Super Eagles of Nigeria defeated their South Africa opponents 4-2 on penalties to advance to the 2023 AFCON final, BSNSports.com.ng reports. 

The Nigerian side defeated Bafana Bafana to reach the AFCON final since 2013 after it ended 1-1 after regulation and extra time. 

Captain Troost-Ekong had opened scoring when he converted from the spot to before Teboho Mokoena equalized for South Africa from the spot in the dying stages of regulation time. 

Despite going a man disadvantage in the second half of the extra time, South Africa held their own to force the game into penalty shootout. 

During the penalty shootout, Stanley Nwabali was the hero for the Super Eagles as he saved two penalties before Kelechi Iheanacho scored the last penalty kick to send Nigeria to the final.
