Nigeria's men's volleyball team will begin their quest for a place at the 2026 CAVB African Volleyball Nations Cup when they face Niger Republic in the opening round of the Zone 3 Qualifiers on Tuesday in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The West African qualifying tournament features six men's teams and five women's teams competing for qualification to the continental championship.
Nigeria will take on Niger Republic at 3:00 p.m. (Nigerian time) in what is expected to be a key opening fixture. Victory would provide the team with early momentum in its bid to book a ticket to the African Nations Cup.
The opening day's men's programme begins with Burkina Faso taking on Benin at 1:00 p.m., before Nigeria's clash with Niger Republic. Hosts Côte d'Ivoire will round off the men's fixtures against Togo at 5:00 p.m., with home fans expected to create a lively atmosphere.
In the women's competition, Côte d'Ivoire will open its campaign against Togo at 7:00 p.m., while Benin and Burkina Faso will contest the final match of the day at 9:00 p.m.
The CAVB Zone 3 Qualifiers are expected to feature some of West Africa's top volleyball talent, with teams looking to make a strong start as the race for qualification to the 2026 African Volleyball Nations Cup gathers momentum in Abidjan.
