Nigeria Customs’ Unbeaten Charge Delivers Super Volleyball Championship Glory

The Nigeria Customs Service women’s volleyball team clinched the title at the 2025 Super Volleyball Championship after securing a convincing 3–0 (25–20, 25–23, 25–14) victory over the Ghana Air Force in Sunday’s final at the Borteyman Sports Complex in Accra, Ghana.

Nigeria’s representatives dominated the tournament from start to finish, recording emphatic wins over Ghana Navy, Kalibi, Ghana Immigration and Elwak Wings on their way to an unbeaten run and the championship trophy.

Speaking after the triumph, the Head of Sports at the Nigeria Customs Service, Samuel Onikeku, credited the team’s success to the substantial backing of the Comptroller General of Customs, Dr. Adewale Adeniyi (MFR). He highlighted the CGC’s consistent investment in the team and the provision of an enabling environment for the players to perform at their peak.

“We are grateful for the continuous support of the Comptroller General of Customs, Dr. Adewale Adeniyi, for ensuring our participation in the Super Volleyball Championship,” Onikeku said. “The entire team dedicates this victory to the CGC, and we remain committed to flying the nation’s flag high. This tournament also serves as vital preparation for the 2025 CGC Volleyball Premier League in December, where we intend to successfully defend our women’s title.”

Nigeria further underlined their dominance by winning five individual awards. Kelechi Genevieve emerged as the tournament’s Most Valuable Player and Best Opposite, while Maryam Ibrahim was named Best Attacker. Aisha Umar picked up the Best Server award, Bukky Oluwatosin was voted Best Middle Blocker, and coach Suleiman Ajeigbe earned the Best Coach honour.
