By Niyi Busari
Nigeria’s U-20 women’s team, the Falconets, have advanced to the final round of the qualifiers for the FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup following a 2–1 victory over Senegal in Dakar, sealing a 3–1 aggregate triumph, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Holding a slender 1–0 advantage from the first leg, Nigeria delivered a composed and disciplined performance away from home to confirm their superiority over the two-legged tie.
Kindness Chinaza Ifeanyi opened the scoring in the 19th minute, giving the visitors early control of the contest. Although Senegal pushed for a response, Nigeria maintained their structure and capitalized again in the second half, with Precious Oscar finding the net in the 68th minute to effectively put the tie beyond doubt.
The result ensures the Falconets remain firmly on course for a place at the tournament in Poland.
Nigeria will now face Malawi in the final qualifying round. The winner of the decisive encounter will secure one of Africa’s slots at the 2026 global showpiece.
With just one hurdle remaining, the Falconets are within touching distance of another appearance on the world stage.
