Nigeria Falls 5-4 On Spot Kicks, As Ghana Qualifies For 2023 CHAN Ibraheem Lateef Ayodele

Super Eagles B team quest was dashed after Ghana Black Galaxies booked their place in next year's CHAN tournament, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The Black Galaxies who started the 2nd leg tie with a two-goal advantage lost 2-0 to Nigeria in the final qualifying round fixture decided at the Moshood Abiola National Stadium in Abuja on Saturday.

Despite the Super Eagles B team dominance, the Black Galaxies kept it clean and survive the first half as it ended in a barren draw.

With 14 minutes to end the game, Plateau United striker Zulkilfilu Muhammed gave Nigeria a lifeline scoring the first goal of the match as the result stood at 1-2 aggregate.

The Black Galaxies had goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim to thank after he made a fantastic save to deny Nigeria a second goal moments later.

The Super Eagles got the second goal to level matters on aggregate after Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) top scorer Chijioke Nnamdi Akuneto netted in stoppage time to force the tie into penalty shootouts.

The Black Galaxies secured their first qualification to the CHAN tournament for the first time since 2014 as they won 5-4 in the penalties.
