The Federal Government of Nigeria has fulfilled the 1994 pledge made to Super Eagles of Nigeria by giving members of the team Certificates of Occupancy (C of O) to their homes in Abuja today, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The handing over was done by Nigeria Minister of Works and Housing, Babatunde Fashola in Abuja, a day after the commissioning of the Federal Housing project in Kano.

Fashola handed Coach Bonfrere Joe, Peter Rufai, Victor Ikpeba and others who graced the occasion keys to their home in Abuja for promises made in Atlanta 1996 Olympics.

The team won the 1994 AFCON tournament, Nigeria’s and Africa’s first Olympics Football Gold medal and also qualified for Nigeria’s first World Cup where they reached the Round of 16 but promises made to them were not honoured for over two decades.
