Nigeria Honors Medal-Winning Para Powerlifters with Instant Cash Payments

Team Nigeria's medal-winning para powerlifters have received immediate financial rewards following their impressive performances at the ongoing Commonwealth Games, underscoring the Federal Government's commitment to recognizing sporting excellence, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
National Sports Commission (NSC) Chairman, Shehu Dikko, announced that medalists are receiving both instant cash rewards at the competition venue and additional payments directly into their bank accounts.
Roland Ezuruike, who claimed silver in the Men's Lightweight Para Powerlifting (Group A) event, received a total reward of $5,000, comprising a $2,000 instant cash bonus from the National Sports Commission and a further $3,000 paid directly into his account.
Gold medalist Esther Nworgu, who triumphed in the Women's Lightweight Para Powerlifting event, was rewarded with a total of $10,000. Her package included a $5,000 instant cash presentation from the NSC and an additional $5,000 transferred directly to her account.
Fellow silver medalist Esther Onyema also received a total reward of $5,000 after securing second place in the Women's Lightweight Para Powerlifting event. Her reward consisted of a $2,000 cash presentation at the competition venue and a further $3,000 paid directly into her account.
The immediate disbursement of the incentives reflects President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's pledge to promptly reward Nigerian athletes for outstanding performances on the international stage, as Team Nigeria begins its Commonwealth Games campaign on a successful note.
