Nigeria Invites 26 Players To Camp Ahead Of 2026 African Women's Nations Volleyball Championship

Nigeria has invited 26 players to camp as preparations intensify for the 2026 African Women's Nations Volleyball Championship, scheduled to take place in Nairobi, Kenya, from August 23 to September 5, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The invited squad features a blend of experienced and emerging talents drawn from clubs across Nigeria and overseas, as the team begins its build-up to the continental competition.

Among the middle blockers called up are Deborah Sunday (COAS), Joy Owoniyi (Vipers), Chioma Nwangwu (Olalomi), Sarah Sanda (NAF), Ganiyat Lateef (COAS), and Aisha Bello of NU Lady Bulldogs in the Philippines.

The opposite hitters selected include Kelechi Ndukauba (NCS), Albertina Francis (NSCDC), and Christiana Paul (COAS), while the libero positions will be occupied by Jummai Bitrus (CNS), Bethel Nworie (NCS), and Miriam Usman (NCS).

The team's technical crew will be led by head coach Elishama Elam, with Segun Abinde serving as Assistant Coach I and Sunday Akapson taking charge as Setters Trainer.

Nigeria will be aiming for a strong performance at the championship as they compete against Africa's top volleyball nations in Nairobi.
