Abubakar Liadi was the hero for Smouha, scoring the winning goal only eight minutes into the second half, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Liadi took advantage of a fantastic assist from the high-energy striker, Hossam Hassan.
In the first half, Zamalek applied pressure on the hosts, while Smouha relied on the tactics of their lone striker, Hassan. However, things changed in the second half when Smouha executed a well-timed counterattack.
Hassan received the ball inside the box and delivered an assist to Liadi, who found the back of the net.
Zamalek's Portuguese coach, Jose Gomes, sought to find the equalizer by bringing on his veteran players, including Ahmed 'Zizo' Sayed, Ahmed Fattouh, and Nasser Mansi, as substitutes.
Smouha's hopes of securing the victory were dealt a blow when Hossam Hassan received his second yellow card and was subsequently sent off.
The Alexandria-based team managed to hold on with ten men for the remaining minutes of the game.
With this defeat, Zamalek remains in 12th place in the Egyptian League table with 24 points, while Smouha climbs to sixth place with 30 points.
