Nigeria Vs Canada: Super Falcons Won't Disappoint Africans - Waldrum

Super Falcons Head Coach, Randy Waldrum has promised to make Nigerians and indeed Africans proud when they lock horns with Canada in their 2023 FIFA Women's World Cup opener on Friday,  BSNSports.com.ng can report.

The two sides have played against each other four times with Canada winning two (the two wins were recorded in friendly games) while Super Falcons beat them once at the FIFA Women's World Cup and drew once but lost two.

Speaking ahead of Friday game, Waldrum said, “I think the expectations is to get out of the group, that hasn’t changed. One thing I know is that the players have given us everything in the past days and we will continue to do that until Friday. We will be proud and make you all (Africans) proud as well."

The Canada women's national team have managed to win 1 drew 1 and lost 3 in their last 5 games. Whereas, Falcons won 3 drew 0 but lost 2 in last five matches.

This year’s World Cup, would be Waldrum’s second major Competition with the Super Falcons, after the team came fourth at the Women African Cup of Nations last year.

The Super Falcons will start their campaign on Friday against Canada at 3:30pm before facing the host, Australia on the 27th and lastly will battle Republic of Ireland women team on the 31st of July.
