Nigeria Vs Cote D'ivoire: Coach Seun Oyeniyi Eyes Championship Win in Ouagadougou
By Niyi Busari
Nigeria’s U-15 head coach, Seun Oyeniyi, has expressed confidence in his team’s ability to claim the title at the WAFU B U-15 Secondary School Championship currently underway in Ouagadougou, Burkina Faso, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The young Nigerian squad will open their campaign on Monday against Côte d’Ivoire at the Stade du 4 Août, with kickoff scheduled for 11 a.m. They will return to the same venue on Tuesday to face Benin Republic in their second group-stage fixture.
According to the tournament schedule, the semifinals will take place on Wednesday, while both the third-place match and the final are slated for Thursday.
Speaking with BSN Sports, coach Seun Oyeniyi said; "we have game plan against Cote D'ivoire on Monday and I am optimistic about winning the first game as that will spur us to hit the target which is winning the trophy. "However, if we eventually beat Ivory Coast, that is not the end as we have to regroup and top the group by beating Benin Republic also before playing in the Semi-final and hopefully in the final on Thursday." He told BSNSports.com.ng.
The Nigerian delegation comprising 19 players and six officials arrived in Ouagadougou on Saturday after traveling through Lagos and Abidjan. The team is currently accommodated at Hotel Splendid in the Burkinabè capital.
