Nigeria Vs Egypt: Tactical Preview And Probable Super Eagles XI
By Admin
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will take on Egypt on Tuesday night at the Cairo International Stadium in an international friendly as both teams continue preparations for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The fixture presents an important opportunity for Nigeria’s coaching crew to fine-tune the squad, assess new faces and test tactical options ahead of the continental showpiece.
Despite being ranked four places above Nigeria in the latest FIFA rankings, Egypt head into the match in poor form, having gone five games without a win recording three draws and two defeats. Nigeria, by contrast, have posted stronger recent results, winning three of their last five matches, although the defeat to DR Congo in the World Cup qualifiers remains a lingering disappointment.
Nigeria’s goalkeeping department remains a concern ahead of the encounter. First-choice goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali is battling wrist and ankle injuries, which could see Francis Uzoho handed a starting role. Amas Obasogie is expected to serve as backup as he awaits his senior debut.
In defence, the retirement of former captain William Troost-Ekong and the injury to Benjamin Frederick are likely to force changes at centre-back. Semi Ajayi is expected to partner Calvin Bassey in central defence, with Bright Osayi-Samuel and Zaidu Sanusi providing cover at right-back and left-back respectively.
Midfield selection could also be influenced by fitness considerations. Wilfred Ndidi may be rested due to concerns over his physical condition, opening the door for Frank Onyeka to bring energy and ball-winning presence. Highly rated 21-year-old Ebenezer Akinsanmiro is expected to feature, while Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is also in contention for a starting berth.
In attack, Nigeria will once again be without talisman Victor Osimhen, making Paul Onuachu the likely focal point up front. He is expected to be supported by Akor Adams and Ademola Lookman, who offer pace and creativity from wide areas.

Defenders: Bright Osayi-Samuel, Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Zaidu Sanusi
