By Niyi Busari

Following flight delay leading to arriving Nigeria behind schedule, the contingents of South Africa slept over in Port Harcourt and will not be at the venue of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier game against Nigeria until Thursday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

After passing through the immigration checking at the Port Harcourt Airport, the chartered flight could not take off to Uyo as the Airport has closed forcing the 1996 AFCON champions to spend the night in Port Harcourt.

Bafana Bafana Media Officer, Romy Titus in a chat stated thus: "The team is still not at base in Uyo, due to mostly to the massive flight delay this morning.

"Immigration took place at Port Harcourt Airport, and by the time we were to take off - the Airport in Uyo had closed. We will need to spend the night in Port Harcourt but still currently awaiting transfer. "

However, in readiness for Friday's game, Bafana Bafana will train on the turf of the Nest of the Champions in Uyo at 8pm on Thursday night.

South Africa are second on the log with three points from two games while Super Eagles are third with two points. Rwanda are topping the log with four points.
