Nigeria Vs Uganda: Likely Starting XI As Super Eagles Eye Group Supremacy

The Super Eagles of Nigeria will face Uganda in their final Group C fixture on Tuesday, December 30, at the Fez Stadium.

Nigeria, champions of the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations, currently sit atop Group C with six points from two matches and have already secured qualification for the Round of 16. As a result, the encounter against Uganda is largely a dead-rubber, with the Super Eagles needing at least a draw to maintain their position at the top of the group standings.

Head coach Eric Chelle is expected to rotate his squad for the match, giving opportunities to fringe players while resting key starters ahead of Nigeria’s Round of 16 clash scheduled for next Monday.

In goal, Francis Uzoho is likely to start following Stanley Nwabali’s injury sustained and yellow card he received in the previous match against Tunisia. The defensive line is expected to feature Blackburn Rovers defender Ryan Alebiosu at right-back, with Zaidu Sanusi on the left. Calvin Bassey and Semi Ajayi are tipped to form the central defensive partnership.

In midfield, Tochukwu Nnamdi is expected to step in for captain Wilfred Ndidi in the holding role, while Alex Iwobi is set to operate as the team’s playmaker. Samuel Chukwueze and Moses Simon are likely to provide width from the flanks.

Up front, Ademola Lookman is expected to lead the attack alongside Cyriel Dessers of Panathinaikos.

The anticipated rotation will allow squad players to stake a claim for greater involvement in the tournament, while also ensuring key figures remain fresh for the knockout stages.
