Team Nigeria captain, Tapere Vincent is optimistic that they will shock the world at the 2025 Invictus Games, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Tapere in an exclusive interview with BSN Sports on Thursday in Abuja stated that they have learnt a lot from their maiden participation in the competition in Germany in 2023 and will build on that experience to have a better outing in the next edition slated for March, 2025 in Canada.

"Our outing in Germany last year wasvery good as a matter of fact, we were starters as at the time we went for the game. Despite being the first African team to embrace the Invictus Games, we stunned the whole world by defeating the host nation, Germany, that have been in the game for years.

"We came home with medals and other individual awards as well. But this time, having spent some months in training with good equipment provided for effective performance, our outing in Germany is just a tip of the ice berg compared to what Nigerians are going to witness in Canada in 2025 . So we are better informed, better trained better equipped and we will do much better.

Also speaking, the Team Administrator, Stephanie Nwagu corroborated the captain that the team will conquer the world at the competition.

"Nigerians should expect the best performance from the team. We have been in camp since January perfecting strategies to overcome the opponents when the competition begins."

Nigeria will participate in six games with 21 athletes. The Invictus Team Nigeria is owned by the Defense Headquarters with AVM Kumzhi as the Director of Sports and managed by the Africa Unconquered Foundation led by Mr Derrick Corbinnah with team Head Coach, Christian Agoawuike.

The 2025 Invictus Games will hold in Vancouver, Canada. It will bring together over 500 competitors from over 20 nations to compete in adaptive sports, including the new winter sports: Alpine Skiing and Snowboarding, Nordic Skiing and Biathlon, Skeleton, and Wheelchair Curling, in addition to the core Invictus Games sports of indoor rowing, sitting volleyball, swimming, wheelchair rugby and wheelchair basketball.
