Nigeria-born Swiss International Agrees Deal with Italian Giants

Nigeria-born Swiss international, Noah Arinzechukwu Okafor, who plies his trade as a winger with Austrian Club Red Bull Salzburg, has reportedly agreed personal terms with Italian Giants - AC Milan, and has been booked for medicals today (Saturday), BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The 23-year-old player of Nigeria descent signed for Salzburg in the winter of 2020 from his home club FC Basel for €11.2 million, featuring predominantly as a center forward, which reflected in his statistics bagging 34 goals and 23 assists in in 110 games across three seasons for the Austrian Club.

Recall that AC Milan's head coach Stefano Pioli expressed interest in the youngster in the summer of 2022, but efforts to get him in proved abortive, as a renewed approach this summer seems to have yielded an expected outcome.

As fate will have it, both RB Salzburg and AC Milan were pitted alongside in Group E of the 2022-23 UEFA Champions League season, with Okafor sending signals to the Milan camp by opening the score in the 28th minute of the Group game. 

According to renowned Sports and Transfer news expert, Fabrizio Romano, a long term deal has been agreed with the player, for a fee around €13-14 million, with medicals booked for Saturday, to further conclude paper works.

Arinzechukwu Okafor was born to an Igbo father and a Swiss mother on the 24th of May 2000, and has featured only for Switzerland through the ranks of the U15, U17, U18, U19, and U21 teams bagging 8 international youth goals in that span.

Okafor has also featured at senior level for the Rossocrociati of Switzerland scoring twice in 14 international games since making his debut on the 9th of June 2019.
