Nigeria's Abdul Jabar Shatters African Record In Egypt
Nigeria’s rising swimming sensation, Abdul Jabar Adama, has shattered yet another record at the ongoing 16th Africa Junior Swimming Championships in Cairo, Egypt.
After setting a new record in the 50 metres butterfly on Wednesday, the 16-year-old champion repeated the feat in the 50 metres freestyle, clocking an impressive time of 12.54 seconds.
This performance obliterated the previous record of 22.65 seconds, earning him the gold medal in the event.
Adama’s outstanding performance brings Nigeria’s medal tally at the championship to three including two gold and one bronze, all courtesy of his individual efforts.
President of the Nigeria Swimming Federation, Chinonye Aliyu, had the honour of presenting the 50 metres freestyle medal to Adama, who is fast becoming a household name in Nigerian sports.
