Nigeria's female Yellow Greens Celebrate Captain's 50th Cap Despite Loss To Namibia
By Akanimo Kufre
The Capricorn Eagles of Namibia defeated the Female Yellow Green of Nigeria by 9 runs on Sunday in the ICC T20i World Cup Africa Qualifiers at Entebbe Cricket Oval in Uganda.Â
Nigeria won the toss and chose to field first, leaving the Namibian girls to open the batting. Namibia scored 122 runs in 20 overs and lost only two wickets.Â
The Capricorn Eagles hampered Nigeria's pursuit in the second innings. Nigeria managed 113 runs with the loss of seven wickets in 20 overs.
This defeat, however, did not deter the Yellow Greens girl from celebrating Captain Bless Etim's magnificent moments. Etim recently celebrated her 50th T20 match for the country.
Blessing's contribution to the team's recent success has received accolades from many quarters. She has been instrumental in the development of female cricket in Akwa Ibom State and produced four other players for the national female team. They are Salome Sunday, Esther Sandy, Sarah Etim, and Blessing Frank.
