Nigerian Players Round-Up:Awoniyi Scores, As Nottingham Forest Lose 3-2 To Man Utd At Old Trafford

By Emmanuel Chinedu

Nigeria's Super Eagles forward, Taiwo Awoniyi, scored his seventh consecutive English Premier League goal against Manchester United, at Old Trafford on Saturday, though it was not enough as his side, Nottingham Forest suffered a 3-2 away defeat, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Despite taking a 2-0 lead inside four minutes of the encounter with Awoniyi scoring in the 2nd minute, Nottingham Forest had their work made more difficult when Joe Worrall was sent off in the second half.

While Awoniyi and Ivorian defender, Wily Boly scored inside four minutes, Manchester United’s resurgence was led by Christian Eriksen in the 17 minutes as Casmiero and Fernandez scored both in the second half – with the latter via spot kick to turn things around for the host.

Awoniyi’s goal was his seventh in seven consecutive EPL matches. He’s only the third African player to score in seven successive PL games, after Emmanuel Adebayor and Mo Salah.
