Nigerian Prospect Set to Make History At Al Nassr With Ronaldo
By Our Reporter
Saudi Pro League giants Al Nassr have completed the signing of a talented Nigerian footballer, David Oguejiofor, ahead of the January transfer deadline, strengthening their squad as the season progresses, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The move makes the fast-rising Nigerian prospect the first player from the country to join a club featuring Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, provided the five-time Ballon d’Or winner continues his stay in the Saudi Pro League.
Al Nassr had previously been linked with another Nigerian international, Werder Bremen forward Victor Boniface, but negotiations failed to materialise during the January 2025 transfer window.
The latest acquisition marks Al Nassr’s return to the Nigerian market eight years after the club signed former Super Eagles captain Ahmed Musa, who enjoyed a successful spell with the Riyadh-based side.
Former Super Eagles striker Odion Ighalo came close to sharing the pitch with Ronaldo earlier in his career but narrowly missed out, having departed Manchester United before the Portuguese star’s return to the club during the 2021/22 Premier League season.
Al Nassr are expected to formally unveil the Nigerian player in the coming days as they continue their push for domestic and continental success.
