By Niyi Busari

Sports loving Nigerians have expressed their dissatisfaction with the incumbent Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) President, Musa Kida for condenming the set up of Interim Management Committee (IMC) constituted By Federal Government to take charge of basketball affair, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

The Ministry of Sports announced the withdrawal of Nigeria from all international basketball competitions for two years and set up a ten-man Interim Management Committee to be in charge of the game till the leadership tussle bedevilling the game is settled.

On January 31st, 2022 two different NBBF elections were held in Abuja and Benin, Edo State where Mark Igoche and Musa Kida emerged as factional Presidents.

Apparently not happy with the Ministry of Sports over the set up of IMC, the Kida-led NBBF on official Facebook page denounced the IMC which gave way to angry Nigeria sports lovers to show their grievances.

Facebook user, Omoruyi Gift, wrote, "If you really love basketball let go and allow this stand because of the players. When they fix a new election and you feel you are popular then run and win the election.

This crises started because you guys could not put your house in order then government had to step-in."

Another Facebook user, Darlington Ochonma said, "Go out and get proper sponsors, leverage on the achievements of our basketball national teams in the last few years, be self sufficient and be a truly independent federation, then and only then can you tell government to back off.

As long as a large chunk of the money you use to run the federation is from the government's purse, this interference will continue because government knows that at the end of the day you will still run back to them cap in hand begging for funds.

Ayoyemi Victor alleged that the Kida-led NBBF is part of Nigeria basketball problems.

"The same set of people giving NBBF problem for years.

Donald Obekpa corroborated Ayoyemi, "You all have succeeded in killing basketball in this country all for selfishness and greed. Quite unfortunate.

Samuel Alaba's comment was in the same line of thought, "You guys should all leave the basketball, your board is nothing but pains to Nigerians! How can you be having different elections everytime your tenure elapsed? Everyone of you should be arrested and let fresh air come into the sport.

A seasoned journalist based in Abuja, Sleeky Sly, expressed his thoughts,

"Some people are running kolo mental because of ban. They have helped those who are using their personal money to fund basketball, why then the foul cry?

Onjefu Egwa wrote, "Na Musa Kida fault. Basketball in Nigeria is fully funded by the government at the center and not from FIBA.

If the ministry of youths and sports does not agree with your fraudulent/kangaroo congress in Benin,e no get anything wey you go do about am.

We no need Agbada wearing Alhaji's to run our sports for us again.

Kamaldeen Momoh expressed his opinion, "How, Do NBBF owns FMYSD, or reverse is the case? These people just want to burry BBall in Nigeria for good.... Why can't you guys just step aside to save the game besides you've been given more than enough time to help the game but look at it today.....

Abba Usman wrote, "He who pays you dictates for you!

Shehu Ahmed, "You guys are just crippling the game of basketball in Nigeria !!..

Oreoluwa Tam, "When you destroy people's life with lie take it as a loan, it's coming back to you with interest

Neither you like or not."

Alhassan Joseph, "Na wa for this people o, can you pls tell us exactly why u people wants to kill yourselves over running the affairs of basketball even as the whole world don't like or want you people again?

The annoying part is this fiba you always mention in your write up or statements always that's most surprising, are you not tired of talking about fiba each time we talk about the progress of Nigerian Basketball?

Did the ministry stop you from doing Basketball in Nigeria also? Why didn't you embrace the development of basketball at the domestic level like every other person has accepted and already moving forward if not that you are really after your pockets."
