No Home Advantage Factor In NPFL, Teams Can Pick Points Anywhere - Agoye
Precious Oham
Edith Agoye of Sunshine Stars has said the Nigeria Premier Football League, no longer have the home advantage factor saying that teams can pick points anywhere, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Speaking with journalists, after his side defeated Sporting Lagos by a lone goal in a MatchDay 10 fixture of the NPFL, Agoye heaped praises on his lads for getting the win over 'Noisy Lagosians.'
Agoye noted that they will continue to work towards converting their chances while expressing joy that his team finally kept a sheet at home in the league.
He said: "We are very happy to pick the three points. The way its going in the league, there is no longer home advantage, any team can go away to win, any team can lose at home. We played against a team that drew in the last home game. They came with everything they had. We were a bit tensed towards the end but I'm very happy the boys were able to hold on till the end of the game.
"This is a big problem and we have been working very seriously in the training ground to see that we improve on our goal scoring. We are very happy that chances are being created. We will still work very hard to make sure we score as many as possible.
"We are very happy that after a long time we were able to keep a clean sheet. That aspect too is very important."
Defensive midfielder of the Akure-based side, Osimaga Duke said the team is aiming for a continental ticket adding that the team will push harder till the end of the season.
"It's a good one for us. We need to push more harder because the league is getting more tougher. We are going to Enyimba on Sunday, we need to do more better to get a point there.
"It's a good one for me this season because I know I'm doing better but I need to push more further. We are still looking at the continental because the league is still open for everybody."
Moses Omodumueke's 26th minute strike was all Sunshine Stars needed to pick the maximum points against visiting Sporting Lagos.
