Nwaiwu Opens Up On Why He Chose Trabzonspor

Newly signed Nigerian defender Chibuike Nwaiwu has explained the reasons behind his decision to join Turkish Super Lig giants Trabzonspor, despite attracting interest from several clubs across Europe, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The 22-year-old completed his move to Trabzonspor on Wednesday, signing a four-year contract after an impressive spell with Austrian side Wolfsberger AC, where he established himself as one of the league’s standout defenders.

Speaking after finalising the transfer, Nwaiwu admitted that his admiration for the club and its passionate supporters played a decisive role in his choice.

“I chose Trabzonspor because it’s a club I love. I’m very happy to be here,” Nwaiwu said. 

“I can say that Trabzonspor fans are among the best in the world, and I will try my best to meet the fans’ expectations of me.”

The former Enyimba defender is expected to add depth and versatility to Trabzonspor’s backline as the club targets domestic success and a strong showing in continental competitions.

Nwaiwu’s arrival has been warmly received by the Trabzonspor faithful, who will be eager to see the Nigerian international quickly adapt to life in the Turkish Super Lig.
