Nwakaeme, Trabzonspor crowned Turkish Champions

Nwakaeme,

Super Eagles striker Anthony Nwakaeme is an integral part of Trabzonspor’s history as they secured their Turkish Super Lig title for the first time in 38 years, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The big boys of Istanbul have overshadowed the Black Sea Storm in recent years. Fenerbahce, Besiktas, Basaksehir, and Galatasaray have dominated the Super Lig for a very long time.

Nwakaeme has been nothing short of brilliant this season. The Nigerian forward has been the shining light for the Black Sea Storm this season, notching ten goals and eleven assists.

Fans surged onto the pitch before the conclusion of their 2-2 tie with Antalyaspor, but they then cleared away to allow the game to conclude.

They lead Fenerbahce by nine points - and have a stronger head-to-head record - with three games remaining

This is the Black Sea Storm's eighth championship – they won five consecutive titles from 1975 to 1976 and another in 1983-84.

They are one of just six teams to have ever won the Turkish championship.

Besiktas earned the trophy last season after Istanbul Basaksehir's historic first title win in 2019-20.
