As Abia Warriors prepare to navigate the last match of the 2024/2025 Nigeria Premier Football League season, Warriors centre back, Collins Nwoburuoke says they are approaching the match with all seriousness, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Having qualified for Continental Football Competition next season with a hard fought victory over El-Kanemi Warriors of Maiduguri in the last league fixture, a feat that drew wild jubilation from Warriors family and followers, Umu Chineke have now turned attention to their last league fixture of the season with Ikorodu City.
Nwoburuoke, during a chat with the club's media says the Warriors will go all out for the maximum points as they want more from this season.
"We got to the Continent when nobody believed in us, yes there are celebrations in Umuahia, everybody is happy with us, but like I said before, we want more and we're very focused on getting the job done in Lagos", the Warriors centre-back said.
When asked about the threat posed by Ikorodu City FC, Nwoburuoke said, "We did it in Umuahia we can still do it again in Lagos...we want more and getting a win could take us to the CAF Champions League depending on the result in Port Harcourt (between Rivers Utd and Nasarawa United). We are going all out for the three points".
Abia Warriors and Ikorodu City will be meeting for the second time in history. In the reverse fixture, Umu Chineke were 2-0 winners at the Umuahia Township Stadium.
The Warriors are currently occupying the third position on the league table with 60 points after 37 league games, while Ikorodu City are in 4th position with 56 points, behind Umu Chineke.
