Rwandan Premier League side Rutsiro FC have completed the signing of Nigerian defender Ekeleuke Ekemini Ukoebe on a two-year deal, bringing in experience and stability to their backline ahead of the new season, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The 26-year-old arrives from Dakkada FC, a club in Nigeria’s second tier, but he is no stranger to top-flight football.
He previously played in Armenia with Lori Vanadzor during the 2018/19 campaign before returning to Nigeria, where he achieved a career highlight by lifting the 2020/21 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) title with Akwa United.
The towering defender is known for his composure at the back, aerial ability, and leadership qualities.
His arrival is expected to strengthen Rutsiro’s defensive department as they aim to challenge Rwanda’s traditional powerhouses in the coming campaign.
Club officials expressed delight at securing his services, emphasizing that his international experience and domestic success in Nigeria will play a key role in Rutsiro’s ambitions.
With the move, the Nigerian becomes one of the few players from West Africa to feature in Rwanda’s top division, adding further diversity to the league.
Rutsiro FC will be banking on his quality and experience as they look to make a strong push in both the league and domestic cup competitions.
