Crowd sensation Emmanuel ‘Walking Machine’ Nworie needed only two quickfire knockouts to win the One Fight Ultimate OFU4 Mixed Martial Arts MMA Fight Night yesterday at Redbar Lagos in Lekki.

The five bout Championship was geared towards developing some budding Nigerian combat sports athletes who have been yearning for opportunities to showcase their skillset.

Grabbing the chance with both hands, Nworie, Nigeria’s 2013 African Games gold medalist in Greco Roman wrestling wowed the audience by storming into in a first round technical knockout win over Victor ‘The Benue Boy’ Dooga in the second semifinal of the Super 4 welterweight tournament.

The knockout victory continued in the Final where the 26 year old Emmanuel beat Iheanyi ‘Sagon Junior’ Agoha who had decisioned Samuel Ogedengbe in the 1st semifinal.

The win takes Nworie’s professional MMA record to an impressive 4-0.

Two ladies made their professional bow in MMA as Ebanda Joy Obanla scored a 2nd round submission win over two time National Sports Festival gold medalist The Golden Girl Victoria Usoro-Udo of Akwa Ibom State.

To draw the curtain on OFU4, two imposing heavyweights who tallied a combined weight of 220 kilogrammes took the cage to the admiration of fight fans who cheered ceaselessly.

After an entertaining all action first round between Kabiru The Hulk Adediran and Joe ‘Storm Rage’ Arinzechukwu, the matchup was eventually declared a no contest after the former infringed on the rules despite scoring a submission win in the 2nd round.

Addressing the audience after the event, the President of OFU Chief Ife Obiudo promised more exciting bouts from his stable, adding that with assistance from other sponsors, more opportunities will be available for young and enterprising combat sports athletes in Nigeria.

The next championship dubbed OFU5 will come up on 26 March 2023 at Redbar Lagos in Lekki.
