Former Super Eagles midfielder Christian Obodo has shared his thoughts on the ongoing transfer uncertainty surrounding Victor Osimhen, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Osimhen, widely regarded as one of Europe’s top strikers over the past three seasons, played a key role in Napoli's Serie A triumph and has drawn interest globally.
Despite expectations that the 26-year-old will leave Napoli this summer, no major European club has made a formal move for his signature.
The Nigerian striker has already turned down lucrative offers from Saudi Arabian side Al Hilalsignallingng his desire to continue competing in Europe.
Speaking to Brila FM, Obodo suggested that financial factors are putting off potential suitors.
“Osimhen still wants to play at the highest level in Europe and achieve great things, but the release clause set by Napoli and his wage demands are scaring clubs away,” Obodo said.
He also pointed to potential bias in the transfer market: “If Osimhen were Brazilian, top European clubs would have already signed him.”
