Odunbaku Gold Cup 2024:Samjason FC Receives Outstanding Prize Money

Samjason FC has officially received ₦260,000 as their prize money for securing third place in the recently concluded Odunbaku Gold Cup 2024.

The payment was made on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, by Mr. Sulaimon Gbadamosi of Prince Gas Concept, the organizer of the competition.

Previously, the club had raised concerns about delays in receiving their winnings, as other teams—those who placed first, second, and fourth—had already been paid.

After intervention from key stakeholders, including the Lagos State Football Association (FA), the matter was amicably resolved, leading to the successful payment.

In a statement, Samjason FC expressed their appreciation to the competition's sponsor, Reverend Odunbaku, for his unwavering support of grassroots football.

They also commended the Lagos State FA for their efforts in mediating the issue and ensuring fairness throughout the process.

 “Our primary goal was to ensure that we were not shortchanged, and we are glad this has been achieved. We extend our gratitude to all parties who intervened and helped resolve the matter. We urge grassroots football organizers to prioritize fairness and respect for grassroots coaches and clubs, as their contributions are integral to the growth of football at the community level,” the club stated.

Samjason FC also acknowledged the efforts of the Alimosho Football Coaches Council and the leadership of the Lagos State FA for their roles in facilitating a resolution.

The Odunbaku Gold Cup remains a celebrated platform for discovering and nurturing young football talent, and stakeholders continue to emphasize the importance of integrity and collaboration in fostering the development of grassroots sports.
