Nigerian international Wilfred Ndidi has officially joined Turkish giants Beşiktaş on a three-year deal, with an option for an additional year, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Following Leicester City’s relegation to the Championship last season, speculation surrounding Ndidi’s future intensified, with several clubs across Europe expressing interest in the midfielder. However, Beşiktaş emerged as the most determined suitor, eventually reaching an agreement with the Foxes.

Ndidi was granted permission to travel to Turkey for his medical, and the club confirmed the transfer on Friday afternoon via its official social media platforms.

“Welcome to Beşiktaş, Wilfred Onyinye Ndidi,” the club announced.

In a statement submitted to the Public Disclosure Platform (KAP), Beşiktaş Football Investments Industry and Trade Inc. revealed the full details of the transfer:

“An agreement has been reached with professional football player Wilfred Onyinye Ndidi regarding his transfer. A 3+1 year contract has been signed. A total transfer fee of €8,000,000 will be paid to Leicester City Football Club Limited.”

Ndidi joined Leicester City in 2017 from Belgian side Genk. Over the course of seven years, he made 252 appearances and scored 11 goals for the Foxes. He was instrumental in helping the club win the FA Cup in the 2020/2021 season and the Community Shield in 2022.

The 27-year-old midfielder has also been a key figure for Nigeria’s Super Eagles, earning 66 caps to date.
