Official NSF Medal Table: Bayelsa Leads, Oyo In 2nd As Delta Out Of Top 5

Following an action-packed third day of competition at the 22nd National Sports Festival, Bayelsa State has emerged as the frontrunner on the official medals table, leading with a total of nine medals—six gold, two silver, and one bronze, BSNSports.com.ng can report.

Oyo State trails closely in second place with six medals, including four gold, one silver, and one bronze. Lagos State sits in third position after Tuesday’s events, having collected ten medals: three gold, four silver, and three bronze.

Cross River State occupies fourth place with three gold medals, while Rivers State rounds out the top five with two gold, three silver, and one bronze medal.

One of the standout stories of the festival so far is the performance of the Invited Junior Athletes (IJA), who have exceeded expectations by climbing to sixth place on the log. They’ve secured two gold medals, one silver, and one bronze—a notable feat for the youthful team.

Defending champions and perennial favourites, Delta State, find themselves in an uncharacteristically low seventh place with a modest medal haul of one gold, one silver, and one bronze after Day 3.

In total, 71 medals have been awarded so far across all events: 23 gold, 23 silver, and 25 bronze, as the festival continues to grow in excitement, intensity, and quality.

Meanwhile, the Director General of the National Sports Commission (NSC), Hon. Bukola Olopade, has urged media professionals covering the event to rely solely on the official medals table released by the Commission, cautioning against the use of unverified standings circulating online.

Events are set to resume across various venues on Wednesday as athletes continue their pursuit of podium finishes in the days ahead.
