Ibraheem Lateef Ayodele
Favour Ofili has won her second 200m indoor silver medal at the NCAA Indoor Championships, coming in 2nd in 22.20s to get on the podium for LSU at the Albuquerque Convention Center in Albuquerque, New Mexico, reports BSNSports.com.ng.
Ofili lost to Saint Lucian star Julien Alfred who completed the double spectacularly, winning with yet another College Record, running a new WL of 22.01s, and Jadyn Mays in 3rd with 22.63s.
The Nigerian gave Alfred a good chase, and almost caught up with her at the last bend, but the latter just motored away to claim the victory.
This is coming almost 20 minutes after she finished 6th in the women's 60m final, losing to Julien Alfred, who stormed to yet another Personal Best and College Record, winning the 60m title running a joint WL of 6.94s,
Meanwhile, Nigerian male athletes also made headlines too, as Favour Ashe Did Not Start (DNS) in the final of men's 60m at the NCAATF Indoor Championships in New Mexico.
On Friday, Ashe looked to have copped an injury in his semifinal heat, after running an equal Personal Best of 6.51s.
Not a bad outing for Udodi Onwuzurike who clocked a time of 20.36s to finish 2nd in his section of the men's 200m final.
He finished 5th overall while Tarsis Orogot won his section in 20.20s.
Nathaniel Ezekiel also had a fair performance in the men's 400m where he clocked 45.73s to finish 4th in his section of the final in Albuquerque.
Ezekiel ran a PB of 45.69s to qualify on Saturday.
