Ofili Joins Amusan, Brume As World Athletics Adds Her To Testing Pool

Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games silver medalist, Favour Ofili, has joined the league of world athletics internationals registered Testing Pool athletes.

Athletes at the highest level of their sport are selected for what is known as a Testing Pool and Ofili’s name was among the hundreds of athletes’ names published by World Athletics following the latest update by the Athletics Integrity Unit, AIU.

 The 200m record holder indoors (22.46s) and outdoor (21.96s) is now one of the seven Nigerian athletes who are considered to be at the highest level of athletics.

Other Nigerians who are in the updated testing pool include reigning World and Commonwealth Games 100m hurdles champion and record holder, Tobi Amusan and two-time World Athletics Championships long jump medalist, Ese Brume.

Also on the updated list are Nigeria record holder in the 200m, Divine Oduduru, Shot Putter Chukwuebuka Enekwechi and Tokyo Olympics 100m finalist, Enoch Adegoke.

Hammer thrower, Annettee Echikunwoke who now competes for the USA was also listed as a Nigerian athlete in the list.

The six Nigerian athletes on the Registered International Testing Pool are thus required to provide whereabouts information to the AIU and the information will be used by Anti-Doping Organisations (ADOs) to locate athletes for effective out of competition doping control.

The AIU will be primarily responsible for testing the five Nigerians on its testing pool list while the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, will have the responsibility of testing others who should be on its testing pool.
