Precious Oham
Whyte Ogbonda of Rivers Angels has set sights on lifting the 2024 President Federation Cup following their inability to clinch the NWFL title, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Eight-time Federation Cup champions, Rivers Angels, arrived in Awka on Monday ahead of their highly anticipated match against Edo Queens in the women's round of 16 fixtures.
The two teams, familiar foes, recently faced each other in the just concluded Super Six of the Nigeria Women's Premier League, with Edo Queens emerging champions of the league.
Ogbonda emphasized the team's determination to succeed, saying, "This is the FA Cup, and I know we lost the league title to them, but this is a different ball game now, and we're coming out fully for Edo Queens on Wednesday."
Ogbonda reiterated that the team's objective in this year's President Federation Cup is to go far in the competition and win the trophy.
"Rivers Angels always reach the finals of the FA Cup, and this year's edition won't be different. Our target is to ensure we lift the trophy and bring it back to Rivers State having lost the opportunity to win the league."
The Jewels of Rivers will confront Edo Queens on Wednesday at the Awka City Stadium.
