Ogunbote: "My Players Were Wasteful, Careless Against Akwa Utd"
Alfred Kadiri
Head coach of Shooting Stars, Gbenga Ogunbote said his team would have gotten something from the Matchday 10 tie against Akwa United if his players weren't wasteful and careless, BSNSports.com.ng has gathered.
The Oluyole Warriors conceded two quick goals at the start of the second half, having held the host to a goalless draw in the first 45 minutes.
In his post match interview, a visibly disappointed Ogunbote, said he was sad the Oluyole Warriors lost the game, despite having it in control, particularly in the first half.
'I think it was one of those things you expect in football. I didn't expect my team to lose the game, we had control of the game, but we had some careless moments and we paid dearly for it.
"You can see the game, sometimes, if you are careless and wasteful, you pay dearly for it. We had begging chances that we should have converted and which could have made the difference, but we didn't."
"We conceded two goals through carelessness and the boys allowed that to weigh them down, they gave up immediately the second goal was conceded."
Despite the defeat, the former Remo Stars gaffer remains hopeful of a change in fortune for his side, saying the team will shrug off the disappointing loss and move on in the next match.
"We move on from there and take the positive from the game. I am encouraged with the new shape of the team but we need to work on our commitment level", said the 'Oracle'.
