FIFA has officially approved goalkeeper Arthur Okonkwo’s international switch from England to Nigeria, clearing the path for him to represent the Super Eagles, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
The Wrexham FC shot-stopper, who previously represented England at youth levels, has now completed all necessary documentation to change his international allegiance.
With the approval secured, the 22-year-old is immediately eligible for selection by the Nigeria national team ahead of upcoming international fixtures.
Okonkwo has been in excellent form for Wrexham this season, and his addition is expected to significantly strengthen Nigeria’s goalkeeping department as the Super Eagles prepare for major competitions.
Nigeria’s technical team can now evaluate Okonkwo alongside the current goalkeepers, intensifying the competition for the number one jersey.
This development is a major boost for the Super Eagles, who continue to strengthen the squad with talented players eligible to switch allegiance.
