Okoromi Targets Super Six Spot For Niger Tornadoes

Alfred Kadiri

The rampaging Niger Tornadoes' striker David Okoromi said his club's priority for the current season is a top-three finish in Group B, BSNSports.com.ng has gathered.

Okoromi stated this during an interview shortly after his team beat Wikki Tourists in an NPFL Matchday 11 encounter at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium Kaduna.

Okoromi praised his coaches for their support and encouragement which has been the major tonic behind his success story this season.

"I want to thank our Head Coach (Abubakar Bala Mohammed) because he is always pushing us and boosting our morale during our training sessions both on and off the pitch.

"He always tells me you can do it, all you need to do is to put in more effort and be calm and you will get the goals. "He knows me very well and my style of play and always advises me on what to do."

The striker said he didn't set any personal target for himself this season, to avoid distraction and unnecessary pressure, but as a team, the target is to finish in the top three and qualify for the season-ending Super Six which would determine the league winner and the continental teams.

"When the goals come, I take it. I don't want to give myself under any pressure. I take it game by game and I am optimistic about getting more goals"

"But for this season we have told ourselves that since it's an abridged season let's focus on getting the top 3 finish."

Okoromi is on a scoring spree of four consecutive matches, his four non penalty goals came against Bayelsa United, Dakkada (home and away), and Wikki Tourists. He missed a penalty against Dakkada during the first leg in Kaduna and has contributed one assist so far this season.
