Okoye Gets Two-Month Ban For Match-Fixing

Super Eagles goalkeeper Maduka Okoye has been officially banned for two months following an investigation into football betting, reports BSNSports.com.ng.

The decision was announced on Tuesday by the National Federal Tribunal, Disciplinary Section, after a hearing on the case.

The ban will take effect at the start of the 2025/2026 football season and will apply exclusively to official matches.

A statement issued by the Court reads: “The National Federal Court, Disciplinary Section, definitively ruled to impose a two-month sanction of disqualification on Mr. Emil Maduka Okoye from official matches, starting at the beginning of the first official competition of the 2025/2026 season.”

As a result, Okoye, who currently plays as the goalkeeper for Udinese, will miss the first two months of next season.

This decision represents a significant setback for the Friulian club.

No additional details regarding the player's involvement in the matter have been released so far, but the suspension has been definitively confirmed.

Udinese has not yet issued an official statement regarding the situation.
