Nigerian defender Ola Aina has shared an update on his recovery from injury, expressing optimism about returning to action before the season concludes, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Aina picked up a calf injury during a Premier League clash against Manchester United in March, forcing him to miss Nottingham Forest's last three matches.
Speaking on The Rest is Football podcast with Gary Lineker, Aina said: "Hopefully, I’ll be fit soon. I’m just taking it day by day to be fair. It’s come along really well. I tore my calf, but it’s not too bad. It’s a grade-two tear. Hopefully, God willing, I’ll be back before the end of the season."
Reflecting on his time on the sidelines, he added: “It’s hard watching them play and not being able to contribute. I just miss being out there and training with the team. But injuries are part of the game, so I’m staying positive and supporting the lads.”
Aina has featured in 30 league games this season, finding the net twice for Nottingham Forest.
