Oluyole Flaming Queens Emerge Champions OF Maiden IFC Women's League

Oluyole Flaming Queens emerged champions of the maiden Ibadan Football Council Women’s league, following their 2-1 victory over Adewale Babes in a pulsating final match decided at the Olubadan Stadium, Iyaganku Ibadan.

The Women’s League, a first of its kind in South-West Nigeria, aimed at engaging the girl-child meaningfully and also develop Women's Soccer in the State, had 10 teams in Oyo state jostle for the ultimate prize.

Tobiloba Oladeji and Raheem Aishat scored for Oluyole Queens, while Olayiwola Wura score Adewale Babes’ only goal.

Incidentally, both finalists clashed in the opening match of the Competition on August 25. The Flaming Queens won the match 3-1.

In the third place game decided earlier, Lagelu queens defeated Salam Ladies 2-1, to emerge the third best team of the tournament.

It is worthy of mention that 56 goals were scored from the 20 matches played.

Tobiloba Oladeji of Oluyole Flaming Queens emerged the Most Valuable Player of the Competition, the best Goalkeeper Award went to Adetoro Khadija of Oluyole for conceding just two goals all through the League, while Lawal Taiwo won the highest Goal Scorer award for scoring 5 goals.

Champions, Oluyole Flaming Queens went home with a Trophy, Medals and Cash prize of #150,000, first runner-up, Adewale Babes went home with medals and #75,000 while Lagelu Queens went home with medals and #50,000.

Chairman, Ibadan Football Council, Mogaji Rotimi Alli told BCOS Sports Reporter Victor Opone that he was greatly impressed with what he’d seen.

“The teams surpassed my expectations, and I am greatly impressed” he said.

The Finals had Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, who also doubles as the Ashipa Olubadan, Alhaji YK Abass, the Babaloja-General of Oyo State and Proprietor of YK Abass FC, former Super Eagles midfield dynamo, Mutiu Adepoju, and other stakeholders in attendance
