Omo-Agege Re-elected Africa Boxing Confederation 1st Vice- President

Azania Omo-Agege, who is the interim President of the Nigerian Boxing Association, has been re-elected as the 1st Vice-President of the Africa Boxing Confederation (AFBC), reports BSNSports.com.ng.

The election took place in Adis Ababa, Ethiopia, where Mr. Berhanu Eyassu Wossen from Ethiopia was also selected as the new President of the Boxing Confederation. 

Omo-Agege had been serving as the interim President of the Africa Boxing Confederation since the suspension of the former President, Bertrand Mendouga of Cameroon, by the IBA Ethics Commission. 

During the meeting, IBA President Umar Kremlev called for unity amongst the delegates and emphasized the need for more events where athletes can win money. 

The newly elected AFBC President Wossen promised to find financial support for the continent and urged everyone to work together towards the future of boxing in Africa. 

Omo-Agege expressed his gratitude to the Nigerian Government and the Minister of Sports, Senator John Owan Enoh, for the support he received during the election. 

He said, "If he had been against my contesting in the election, I would not have been able to make it. So, for this, I say a very big thank you to my Minister." 

Overall, the election marks a new era of unprecedented success in African boxing and promises to bring about positive changes to the sport on the continent.
