Onuachu Extends Golden Boot Lead, Takes Subtle Swipe At Osimhen

By Our Reporter

Super Eagles striker Paul Onuachu has strengthened his grip on the Turkish Super Lig Golden Boot race — and appeared to take a thinly veiled swipe at international teammate Victor Osimhen in the process, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

The 29-year-old forward netted his 18th league goal of the season to inspire Trabzonspor to victory over Fatih Karagümrük, extending his remarkable scoring streak to seven consecutive matches.

Onuachu has been in scintillating form since returning from the Africa Cup of Nations, finding the back of the net in every league outing during that run. His latest strike not only secured three points for Trabzonspor but also widened his advantage at the top of the scoring charts in the Süper Lig.

Despite his prolific campaign, Onuachu has not attracted the same level of media spotlight as Osimhen, who also plies his trade in Turkey and remains one of the league’s most high-profile names.

In a remark widely interpreted as a subtle dig, Onuachu suggested his performances have come without the backing of extensive publicity, seemingly contrasting his situation with that of his compatriot.

While the comments are likely to fuel comparisons between the two Nigerian internationals, Onuachu’s form continues to speak loudly on the pitch as he drives Trabzonspor’s ambitions and tightens his hold on the Golden Boot race.
