Nenad Bjelica, the manager of the Turkish Super Lig side Trabzonspor has refused to agree that the substitution of Paul Onuachu was responsible for the team's defeat, BSNSports.com.ng reports.
Nigeria's Super Eagles striker put Trabzonspor in firm control of the game with the second goal but his substitution in the 68th minute swung the game in favour of Hatayspor.
The game ended 3-2 in favour of the host and the club fans have started blaming the manager for the decision to replace the Nigerian.
"We aimed to win the match. We made player changes to win the match.
"Paul Onuachu made a lot of effort, we wanted to replace him and add fresh players to the game.
"We made the same changes as the BeÅŸiktaÅŸ match. Things went well in that match, but not as we wanted in this match.
"It is not easy to explain this without analyzing the match yet, but as I mentioned, our goal is to always make changes that can win the match", he said.
