Onyah Qualifies For First NCAA 400m Final As Nwachukwu, Joseph Miss Out

Nigerian quarter-miler Favour Onyah has secured a place in her first NCAA Women's 400m final after delivering an impressive performance in the preliminary rounds on Thursday, BSNSports.com.ng reports.

Representing Southeastern Louisiana University, Onyah produced a strong finish in her heat to cross the line in third place with a season-best time of 51.00 seconds, earning automatic qualification for Saturday's final.

The achievement marks a significant milestone in the Nigerian athlete's collegiate career as she advances to compete for NCAA honours in one of the most competitive events on the track.

However, it was disappointment for fellow Nigerians Chioma Nwachukwu and Esther Joseph, who were unable to progress to the final. 

Nwachukwu finished fourth in the same heat as Onyah, clocking 51.41 seconds to narrowly miss out on qualification.

Esther Joseph also fell short of a place in the final after placing fifth in the opening heat with a time of 51.52 seconds.

Despite the exits of Nwachukwu and Joseph, Onyah's qualification ensures Nigerian representation in the NCAA Women's 400m final, where she will be aiming to cap her impressive campaign with a podium finish.
