Onyedika Helps Club Brugge Clinch Belgian Cup Title

 Sampson Adedeji

Club Brugge secured their twelfth Belgian Cup title with a thrilling 2-1 victory over fierce rivals Anderlecht on Sunday evening, with Nigeria’s Super Eagles midfielder Ralph Onyedika playing a pivotal role, BSNSports.com.ng reports

The match, held at the King Baudouin Stadium, saw Club Brugge dominate early proceedings. They took the lead just before halftime when Hugo Siquet’s driven cross from the right was tapped in at the far post by Romeo Vermant.

Moments later, Vermant found the net again—this time inadvertently—redirecting a powerful cross from Christos Tzolis into his own goal, leveling the match.

Anderlecht pushed for a comeback, bringing on experienced defender Jan Vertonghen, and finally found a lifeline in injury time through substitute Luis Vázquez. However, their late surge wasn’t enough to prevent Club Brugge from lifting the cup for a record-extending twelfth time.
